hte message board is the best medium for info. however, the editing is so heavy handed that its hard to discuss or share information without it being deleted by the moderator!! this makes the website boring and people just dont seem to bother chatting any more.

Personally I think this forum is a bit outdated. Fair enough it doesn't have much traffic, but obviously a lot of spam is coming through making the webmaster job tiresome, although I agree with the comment above about being slightly heavy handed, making 'free speech' somewhat impossible, but I doubt its the best or most desirable job in the world......after all it is also being done on a voluntary basis. How about upgrading the forum to one where registering is essential and having to have a confirmation email sent to your registered e-mail address before you can post? Could help alleviate problems with malicious posts against a particular person or group if names are disclosed? I'm no expert on these and it may not be feasible, but could potentially improve the look of the site, some of the spam is a bit undesirable to say the least... Anyway just a few ideas to throw out there

With the North anyway, The RYA hold trials each year which are open to all. Im fairly sure that with making a good impression at events also, one would be invited onto a regional squad. I have no real idea of how lienster squads work but everyone who is good from the south are in the squads so invites are probably performance based. Selection for the academy is held partially again due to ones perfomance and can be selected also via the munsters and youth nationals. This is also how worlds teams are selected. Olympic is done via a jury who decides what seems best for the class. Rodger Craig however can let you know this is definately a poor way to do it. Most places don't really advertise they're selection processes and i know that the laser organisation have no part in the selection of the ISA squads as this is primarely down to the ISA itself. Lasers are great boats though and im sure your children would love them!

Hi Brian. You will find information on the ISA Regional squad training on www.sailing.ie/youthsail as outlined on the homepage of this site and the ISA homepage also. You will find the lead coaches named on the booking form. ILA regional events for 2009 will be posted in the 'Events & Forms' link on this site as soon as they are scheduled for 2009. The ILA Munsters and ISA Youth Nationals will be held over Easter in 2009. For overseas events see www.laserinternational.org for full listings. Brian, I echo your sentiment fully. As of now results from the Leinsters are not available on this site. Only via the message board do I find out about the Bray end of season event which clashes with the first weekend of the Leinster squad training. This year the Leinsters were scheduled late and clashed with the Sutton Inter Schools see www.sdc.ie.
