Yes, I agree as well. Those who sail at home in regional events are treated like the poor relations yet the ISA have the laser listed as a pathway boat and seem to want us to believe that they want to promote it as a class, yet they do nothing to let people know what's happening at home events with sailors from different club around the country. The only information is about the overseas events.Academy. What about the rest of us.!!!!! Do we not warrant a mention. We all pay our ISA subscriptions. Why can't we hear more about it on the ISA website.

I see that, in this thread, there appear to be comments suggesting that one of the Class Officers should take on the task of reporting on the various Provincial Laser events. I also notice that ALL of those involved in this thread are using ficticious names, with the exception of James O'Callaghan. If you are so interested in this subject why not use your correct name publicly (rather than the webmaster having to investigate the source of the posting). Anyone attending a Laser AGM would know that the Class Officers are quite heavily involved in administering the Laser Classs in Ireland, and this includes promoting our sailors for both ILCA and ISA events outside Ireland. It should also be remembered that NONE of the Officers are paid for the time that they provide to the Class and it is not quite as simple as telling them that they now have an extra task - they must also write and publish the event reports themselves. In Galway, for example, there were 78 competitors and it is strange that none of them seem able to write a report on the event. At the time when we had the Irish Laser Newsletter the Editor was frequently pleading for reports about events and, regrettably, on many occasions had to go to press without them as they were not forthcoming. It seems that nothing much has changed over the years. The other possibility, of course, is that a financial charge is put onto the Laser Class Membership and that a fee is paid to whoever writes the report on an event. Perhaps that would make some people more interested!!!!

Maybe the Chairman or the Hon. Secretary of the Laser Class Association might take the time to report on events and post the results on the ISA website?

I completly agree. If a detailed report on each event was shown by the ISA then then more sailors would participate in future ones to recieve recognition. Good comment

Could the criteria for each club hosting regional laser events include a report to the ISA on the event with results, etc.

As you can imagine there are many events going on over the summer in Ireland. The ISA are more than happy to report on them. However, they cannot generate all the reports that are posted. This falls on the class associations. If you send in short report with results, more than happy to post. We report on the events abroad because generally we have someone there on the ground and subsidise the coaching.
