Subject: Laser Trailer Left Outside in Howth Yacht Club

An almost new laser trailer has been put out of the dinghy pen in Howth Yacht Club by the marina staff. It is just at the gate, is unmarked and looks quite vulnerable, so if its yours I would advise you pick it up soon. Of course you are probably thinking that there is loads of free space on the newly extended hard space, and you would be right. But the powers that be have decreed and there word must not be questioned.

Sounds like a rather dangerous action. Who is responsible if the trailer is now stolen? Did howth use their best endeavours to take care of it or did they act in a negligent manner? I hope the situation does not get to the point where the law has to decide........

The Marina staff don't care. They have a small sign on the gate, and as far as they are concerned that gives them unlimited powers to leave any trailers outside immediately. In previous years, there may have been a need, but with the new hard area it is totally unnecessary, and just vindictive.

Unfortunately this happens a lot, but dinghy sailors and their equipment just seem to be tolerated and not encouraged in the dinghy pen.

That's pretty harsh. You'd think they might have the decency to post it as missing for say like a week, then do something about it. Lousy by the staff there in howth. BTW, how is the Howth laser frost bite coming along. I was meant to do it, but I teach all day Sunday. Gotta make the green sometime! :S

If people just label their stuff this and a lot of other posts regarding missing boots etc wouldn't show up!!!

The marina staff in Howth don't like dinghies and never have, despite new managment and a new dinghy pen (which will be filled up with yachts and one designs)there has been no improvement. They wonder why many junior sailors join Dun Laoghaire clubs
