SEE ISA WEBSITE @ www.sailing.ie/inside/default.asp?pageId=124 ( COPY & PASTE LINK ) FOR THE GUIDELINES FOR THE NOMINATION & SELECTION OF THE IRISH YOUTH TEAM FOR THE 2007 VOLVO YOUTH SAILING ISAF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. SURELY SIMILAR GUIDELINES SHOULD APPLY FOR THE TEN NOMINATIONS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE WORLDS IN THE NETHERLANDS. WE NEED TO BRING CERTAINTY TO THIS MATTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO THAT SAILORS WILL KNOW IN ADVANCE WHAT IS REQUIRED.

I see the ILA ranking SYSTEM criteria at paragragh 6 has not been applied for the ISAF WORLDS. THIS MEANS YOU COULD QUALIFY FOR THE ISAFs ahead of a lot of others and yet not get a nomination for the Worlds in Netherlands !! This is ridiculous !!!

This thread has to be treated seriously - the top 4 sailors who have dominated in junior classes in the last 2 years in both girls and boys, plus some others, have all just moved into radial, and there is no reason to assume these top ones will be outside their radial top 4's respectively. Clearly it would not be sensible to nominate a middle-ranker simply because he/she has 4 results counting instead of 2 - however, any change would create an anomaly which could be seen as disenfranchising someone who could have qualified under the present arrangement - so it would have to be handled a) sensitively and b) BEFORE any events take place this year - so must be before the Munsters
