Looks like we'll have a girl at the olympics this year (hopefully). But if we qualify, is it the girl who finishes top at the current world championships who is selected? How is it chosen? It will be a close call, Debbie and Ciara are always pretty evens...

well it looks good ciara is 7th out of the six that can still qualify so she just has to overtake denmark and shes there!

Thats twice i've read that Ireland are just outside the qualification. I copied the following piece off the official worlds website, "Olympic Qualification With just six Olympic berths still available and 23 nations here in Auckland who have not yet qualified the battle for national Olympic qualification is on. The pecking order after today of those in the hunt for Olympic qualification is as follows… Greece, Spain, Russia, Ireland, Croatia and Czechoslovakia with Paraguay further down the list. " So are Ireland 4th and not 7th?

i reckon ciara will be sent if the nation qualifies. ciara is on the olympic squad and with the result in china in the pre olympics and worlds nd miami ocr.

Does the fact that Ciara secured the Olympic place for Ireland mean that she will def be selected??? It would be hard not to choose her but Debbie has had some great results too.

debbie has done well but ciara has beat her in any big event they have come together ciara is also a lot better in the conditions expected for qindgao and has completed her qualifing for the nation and for her spot already while the 3rd irish selection should be cancelled as it is unnecesary, ciara's done great to get the spot and no doubt should rightfully go on to do excellent in Beijing.Isa would be mad to deny her this but they've done crazier things before....

Ciara has done very well to qualify the nation - but that in itself does not mean she wil go to the games. There is a 3 event trials process I believe?
