Changes to the Ranking System: (18 March 2002)
The original Ranking System was devised in the mid-1970s and has served us well
over the years. Last year, however, an anomaly arose in relation to the way
average placings would be awarded to sailors who missed the Nationals due to
their attendance at an appropriate International event.
It also transpired that a number of sailors were unclear as to the way that,
traditionally, the average placings were calculated. Whilst the calculation
method had been consistently applied over the years it had not been published.
Accordingly, the opportunity has been taken to revise the wording of the Ranking
System so that, hopefully, all eventualities are now covered.
Some innovations have also been incorporated, including specific travel and
acclimatisation time around the International events.
Click here to view details of the ranking
system. (in PDF format). Please read the details thoroughly and if there
is anything that you do not understand it would be appreciated if you would
draw it to the Hon. Secretary's attention without delay.
RADIAL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP (March 2002)

August (to avoid a clash with the Radial Europeans) the Radial Fleet will not
sail their Leinster Championship at that time. It will, instead, be sailed at
Ballyholme Yacht Club over Saturday (24th) and Sunday (25th August), while the
Standard and 4.7 Rigs are holding their National Championships. A separate two-day
Open Meeting will be held at BYC for the Radial Fleet on Thursday and Friday
22nd. - 23rd. August. Full details and Entry Forms will be available on the
ILA website in due course.
