The original Ranking System was devised in the mid-1970s and
has served us well over the years. Last year, however, an anomaly
arose in relation to the way average placings would be awarded
to sailors who missed the Nationals due to their attendance
at an appropriate International event.
It also transpired that a number of sailors were unclear as
to the way that, traditionally, the average placings were calculated.
Whilst the calculation method had been consistently applied
over the years it had not been published.
Accordingly, the opportunity has been taken to revise the wording
of the Ranking System so that, hopefully, all eventualities
are now covered.
Some innovations have also been incorporated, including specific
travel and acclimatisation time around the International events.
